Goal with the quick thoughts section is to give a quick overview of the week to week player pool.
Most stats are derived from the last 16 rounds a golfer has played. There will be some incorporation of season long stats.
Getting as high above zero is the goal of the pool/model. Nicolai Hojgaard checks in with a 1.07+ to earn the top spot, undoubtedly in part due to a massive performance at Corales last week.
Luke List is a weekly model darling anytime he shows up in the field, but his putting should almost make him redacted. Putting is an incredibly variant week to week statistic, but List consistently finishes in the bottom of the category.
Kevin Roy & David Lingmerth both rank highly this week. Strong approach, ball striking and overall tee to green numbers will usually have them in the pool, but they rarely take advantage of those opportunities.
Roy’s $6200 salary on Draft Kings and three made cuts out of his previous four tournaments do make him appealing as salary relief with a good shot to make the cut in weaker field. In his last three made cuts, he scored 63, 78.5 and 71 Draft Kings points.
Scott Harrington at $6200 is interesting to me. He isn’t losing strokes anywhere in his game over the last 16 rounds, has made three of four cuts and has two top 30’s to his name in that span.
Kevin Chappell’s last three starts? T29 at Honda, T15 at Puerto Rico and T16 at Corales. 71.5, 85.5, 83 Draft Kings points respectively. $6,700 price tag. That doesn’t seem like it adjusted appropriately.
Most of the higher priced guys made the list, as is usually the case. The discrepancies come where they fall in the pool. Hatton has a clear advantage based on my scores, with guys like Rickie, Hideki and Si Woo Kim all a coin flip. Conners made the pool, but towards the bottom. Not sure I’m rushing to click CC’s name.
I looked at Around The Green, Approach, Ball Striking and Good Drive % this week. Also took into consideration bogey avoidance. I’m not as concerned with Off The Tee as the rough at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) isn’t overly penal and plays as some of the easiest on the schedule.
