How is Valero treating our golfers
An extremely weird start to Valero. They delayed the tournament for close to an hour due to fog. They started a few groups and then almost immediately delayed them again another 3 hours. This pushed us into a very wonky schedule and probably threw some golfers off of their schedules.
Strong week for the player pool and it’s been stronger, too. This feels like where we’re going to settle in as our average. 29/39 golfers through to the weekend for a 74.4% hit rate.
At time of publication (roughly 1:30 PM EST) 6 of the top 9 golfers that are T-4 or better were in the model, including Brendon Todd, who I mentioned in one of the quick thoughts section. Sam Stevens is also near the top of the leaderboard.
I don’t mind missing the $6,200 type guys (Roy, S. Harrington, Jimmy Hahn) but Hatton missing the cut by a stroke is aggravating.
