Not going to write a ton here in the player pool. Because of the condensed field, I’ve condensed the player pool from it’s normal 35-40 names down to 30. Was going to go further, but didn’t feel it was giving enough value options. Again, because of condensed field, I’ll follow up by writing a blurb on every player in the pool in Toph’s Thoughts and don’t want to repeat myself a ton.
Super, super tight layout at Olympia Fields outside of Chicago. Tree lined parkland, second narrowest fairways they’ll play. Long rough cuts estimated at 4” and likely to be longer by the time tomorrow’s tee times get started. It’s also a little bit of a longer course, but not overwhelming. It plays very much like a US Open setup. Last played the BMW Championship in 2020, where only 5 of 70 players finished under par and Jon Rahm was victorious at -4.
This week is going to come down to click percentages. With such a limited field, finding the one or two guys that hold steady position that are 4-7% or even two of those types so you can stack at the top and become unique is really what’s going to separate you. I don’t have access to any of those numbers currently, so if you do - make sure you’re monitoring those when going to make your selections.
I expect Cantlay to be super popular. He’s won the BMW two years running, albeit at different courses. Still a solid course fit here, but I’ve got no problem fading if he’s the highest clicked name in the field.
Benny An - love him if he’s not going to be chalky. All comes down to that. His length will help here, even if he’s not in the short grass as much.
Henley is a great scrambler and super accurate. His putter stinks.
All distance ranks in the player pool are ranks relative to the field of 50.
Adam Svensson is #1 in my trend table with Lucas Glover nipping at his heels. He’s so cheap - will be interesting to see how many clicks he is projecting.
I feel like both Kim’s can do well here - accurate players. Tom got off to a hot start and seemed to fade a little bit or at least not keep up his pace. Wonder if his ankle is still bothering him.
Sungjae is also very high in my trend table, but I hate the price bump. If his driver stays hot, we may be in business.
Sepp will be interesting if he can snap back to form. Showed a big Sunday round at FedEx and if people are off of him due to poor recent performances, might be time to buy Straka Stocks. I’ll see myself out.
Toph’s Thoughts coming later today.
