Bermuda Championship: Player Pool
Oh boy. It's bad.
No way to sugar coat this - this field stinks, even for a fall swing. We have YouTuber’s getting sponsor exemptions and about 20 players WD before the tournament. It’s ugly.
The course is short and very easy and because it’s… well, because it’s in Bermuda, we don’t have a lot of shot link data or anything for it. It’s the type of course where bad fields come in and and still light it up.
Model this week is just mainly focused on overall game and I don’t think you really can pick a bad play. Some guys may be chalky, especially if they are names people know (like Adam Scott, Lucas Glover, Ben Griffin). It’s probably going to come down to a putting contest.
If any of these guys miss the cut, I’ll be floored. But stranger things have happened, I suppose.
I really like Scott, Hubbard, Schmid, Kraft, Todd, Whaley and Smotherman from this particular list.
I seriously think any of these guys are a fine play - I don’t really have anything to add. It’s … it’s a really bad field and easy golf course.
Robert Streb made the model last week and jumped up this week and is also high in the trend rank. It’s a pretty gross play, as all of these are, but it’s kind of a throw your hands up play in a tournament where you’re trying to dodge highly clicked players.
I think Pendrith will be chalky, but I think he’s fools gold. He’s been miserable with the putter. I will say, he does have a 3rd and a 15th in the last two fall swing events, so I can see why he’s popular and why he’s priced as he is, but you may want to dodge if you’re looking to avoid clicks.
Nick Hardy was strong last week and makes an appearance here. I don’t mind him as he’s in no man land salary wise and with people chasing top prices and Ben Griffin, he could get squeezed.
Lanto Griffin has a tough price, but he might be the best putter in the field. Made his previous three cuts in the fall swing.
David Lingmerth is a puke play, but has been really good with the putter and has a strong trend rank.
Peter Kuest is a solid golfer, but has missed his last two cuts. Could go overlooked in a field that is significantly worse than any he’s been a part of dating back to his miracle run at Rocket Mortgage.
With all due respect and apologies to Kyle Wilshire, I have absolutely no idea who he is. Like, at all. So maybe I should play him?
