I’m more interested in the Puerto Rico Open from a DFS perspective because we have another limited field with only 69 (nice) golfers teeing it up & cut rules that were in play for the Geneiss (top 50 + ties + within 10 strokes of the lead).
Making the cut is, of course, going to be critical and they’re making it really hard for you to miss (staring directly at you, Matt Fitzpatrick & Sungjae Im).
Avoiding chalk will also be necessary (now looking at Min Woo Lee). I should have more of an idea of where that lies later today in the player pool.
Moore is a perfect 5/5 this year on cuts, though he hasn’t done much with it, carding a top 25 at the Sentry for his highest finish. However, he’s $6,300 & is likely a direct pivot off of the chalk bomb that is Min Woo Lee. Taylor is 2/2 the past two years he’s played here cut wise.
I’ll probably be into Jason Day again.
David Ford is an amateur voted in by peers for his sponsor exemption - I wouldn’t play it. I think the numbers are likely faulty.
Heard a rumor with maybe some legs that Hideki is dealing with a new back injury. I’ll have to check in on his clicks, but I think there will be a case to avoid if that’s true.
Not surprising to see a lot of these names here given recent performance. I will note Kitayama won here last year - a fact that won’t escape general fields.
I’m not overly concerned on most of these names until you really get down to Morikawa & below and there are some whopper names is this region. In the grand scheme of things, losing a shot per round of your game isn’t a kiss of death, but again - this is designed to be a tool to guide us in making coin flip decisions.
Bezuidenhout might be losing his game a bit.
How bad was Eric Cole last week? Sheesh.
I’ve stared at Hovland & Cantlay’s name for a solid 5 minutes trying to figure out how they got down here.
Cantlay’s last two tournaments have been perfectly fine. Hovland has been mediocre this year relative to his pedigree.
Chris Kirk was solid last week at a course that really suits him & he has really strong course history here.
For the love of god Sungjae please find your game.
